cardboard coffee table

by:GSH     2020-10-01
After buying a few pieces of furniture, I left many large pieces of cardboard.
I decided to make a coffee table with it instead of throwing it all in the bin!
I want to make it fairly solid, so I think I\'ll try to make the cardboard into a triangular beam as the base of the building.
What you need is: cardboardlots of it! Glue -
A large bottle of white glue used to cut cardboard
Like a box cutter! A straight-edge or ruler -
Help us straighten the wound!
I have two long boxes that provide most of the material for the table top.
I use the width of the box to determine the width of my coffee table, but you can cut your table to whatever width you want.
The length of the table depends on how many beams you can get from the cardboard.
Cut the cardboard into 30 wide ribs. (
Your cardboard should be of the same type so you can measure the pieces by calculating the ribs. )
Divide the pieces into 8-8-7-7 ribs wide.
Fold the cardboard on the music spectrum and roll it into a triangle of roughly equal edges with overlapping ends. (
The following figure shows its cross section. )
Stick the overlapping parts together and you should have a nice, sturdy triangular cardboard tube.
A large flat box is used on the desktop.
Put it on the floor and put one side down that you finally want to use.
This will give us a good plane when we finish.
You will start with the previous step and glue your tube perpendicular to the ribs in the top cardboard.
Leave some extra cardboard on the edge as we will wrap the cardboard around the edge to finish it.
Stick the pieces down with a thick face, and then dock them with each other.
You can see that my tubes are stuck here and ready for the next step.
Now, we\'ll fill in the space between existing struts with extra parts.
We will not make these complete triangles in order to save the cardboard.
Instead, we will have one side of the part of the same width as the original triangle, with enough cardboard on both sides to glue it in place.
I found about 4-
Five ribs are enough.
It\'s time to trim the top part and wrap it around the bottom to keep the whole part together.
The two ends were trimmed and scored, so they just folded on the end face of the table and gave us some pretty edges.
Fold both sides all the way so they can stick to the bottom of the desktop.
They should run around a 2 inch so we can stick them together and be comfortable and comfortable.
Then trim them so that they are flush with the sloping edge of the table.
To keep the sides in place while the glue is dry, I cut a gap on some suitable spare cardboard and made some temporary clips.
When all of this is dry, install the last piece to cover the rest of the bottom.
It doesn\'t need to be really picky because once the table is put together it won\'t be able to see it.
It\'s time to make your legs!
The leg assembly uses the same basic idea of a triangle tube.
The legs themselves are made up of two 45-
The degree to which the right triangle is glued togethersquare legs.
These are joined by a skirt made of a short side and a right triangle with a long side.
The exact size is beautiful, so please make your own decision.
This whole thing should end up a 2 inch smaller than your desktop, so adjust the size accordingly.
Stick the legs together, then stick the legs on the skirt.
Reverse the entire component so you can get a nice flat \"top \". (
Let\'s say your floor is flat. That\'s it! )
I used a corner where the floor intersect the wall and got a good right angle where I needed it.
It\'s almost done now!
All that\'s left to do is flip the leg assembly and stick the top to it.
The bottom of the table top is not very flat, so I use some small pieces of cardboard as a gasket to fill some gaps.
The final result was surprisingly strong.
Actually, I can apply quite a bit of weight on this issue without a problem. (
However, it is easy to dent as cardboard. )
You can do this by painting it, or using decoupling or other finishes to make it more resistant to water and dirt in use.
