This structure will show you how to make a mid-easily and cheaply-
Modern coffee table in century.
It can be easily modified to suit your decoration requirements in terms of size and color.
It was a Christmas present for my wife, so we went to the living room with dark stains and red interiors.
To save time, improve accuracy and enhance the look and feel, I have included some tips, tricks or tricks. -
Pocket hole system like Kreg fixture. -Laminated (pre-glued up)
Pine panels (
These are currently cheaper at home than sticking the panels themselves)-
Mounting hardware for tapered legs and angular legs (
Home Depot and all kinds of length)-
Drill and saw (
Saw or saw)-
Stains and paint of your choice and painter tape-
Tape measure and straight edge-
Glue and pocket plugs (
Optional wood filling)
First of all, you want to decide the length and width you are going to build.
Since the board I bought was 18 inch wide, I kept the width of the table.
The width of the coffee table is quite general.
We were also reducing the size of a previous very large table, so I made the length of 38 inch and it looked very reasonable compared to the length of our couch.
I also want about 7 inch clearance between top and bottom shelves.
I marked my lines based on these measurements. Using a cross-
Cut the sled on my desk and I cut 2 lengths at 38 inch and 2 sides at 7 inch.
You can also do this with a round saw.
After the initial cut, it\'s much easier to do most of the sanding, so it\'s time to do so.
Drill two pocket holes per end (
Top and bottom of inner surface)
In the short part, the interval is uniform, located on one side of the center part.
Apply wood glue along the edge of the short film.
Before drilling, it is helpful to use several clips here to align your edges.
After alignment, clamping and drilling, insert some pocket hole plugs with a little bit of wood glue.
After the wood glue is dry, I fill in any gap between the plug and the drill hole with some wood filler.
Once the wood filler is dry, I polish it in those holes to make it smooth.
Now we can install leg hardware and legs.
The Speed Square can help you find the center of the corner quickly and accurately, but it is not entirely necessary.
Once you have marked in each corner where you want your legs to be in the same position, you can install your leg hardware with the 4 screws that come with each bracket.
Make sure that the low side corners of each bracket are outward from each corner.
Now, you just have to screw your legs in your hands to connect your legs to each stand.
Attach your painter tape to the metal cap of the inner side edge and legs and feet of the table.
Try to keep the lines and edges straight and tight.
Apply stains.
I\'m using a Min-
Wax Jacobean oil-based stains, but you can change the color you like.
Let the stain sit for about 10-
15 minutes, then wipe the extra clean.
Once your stain has a chance to dry overnight, you can start your polyurethane finish.
I\'m using a Min-
Wax brand fast drying high gloss is also based on oil.
I applied 4 pieces of coating and gently polished between the coating with 400 sandpaper.
Please be sure to follow the drying time instructions of your Poly brand.
Also, be sure to use long and even strokes and high quality brushes for the best results.
Once your poly is dry, remove your tape from the inside and apply new tape on the outside edge.
Keep your lines tight and straight.
This is not necessary, but I applied a primer before painting so that I could wear multiple coats.
After dry, I painted.
I used Valspar glossy cherry red latex.
I also added a product called Floetrol to help eliminate any brush marks left.
There is no need to use it, but it will improve your look.
Just like the polygon app, you should use long uniform Stokes when applying paint.
It\'s time to remove the tape and get your desk out.
If any paint is applied to the poly-coated part of the table, you can easily remove it with a product called Goof Off.
It is available in almost any hardware store.
It will remove the paint without damaging your Poly finish.
It\'s time to put it in your living room and enjoy it.
